If you're a parent, you know that the teachers in your children's lives are generous leaders who provide the tykes with valuable social, emotional, and educational skills. They also have a tough job "making do" with dwindling resources and running interference with children who require a lot of special handling do to behavioral issues.
Over the years and through three children, I've found some simple, inexpensive ways to help support the teachers and all they do for my kids. I'd like to share these ideas with you so that you can help the teachers in your lives.
Toy Bins Organizer
Let them know you care. Sounds simple, but teachers are sometimes reluctant to reach out to parents. Let them know you want to help support the messages and priorities set at school back at home.
Donate tissues and anti-bacterial wipes whenever you can afford to stock up. No matter the time of year, these are invaluable at helping minimize the spread of germs.
Have some books your kid has outgrown? Rather than pitch them or let them sit unused, consider gifting them to your local school or library.
Donate some clear plastic storage bins. Those handy boxes with snap-on lids can be used for everything from art supplies to snacks, extra clothing to game pieces.
Go back and get some more storage bins. These can be used for flash cards or manipulatives used for teaching counting.
Take a look around your home. Can you save cardboard tubes from paper towels or toilet paper? Do you have a collection of old catalogs? Kids can use these in all kinds of projects.
Whether you go buy some storage bins or pass along some gently used things, your teacher will appreciate your support.
