You can make Christmas decorating and tear down easier by mastering the art of proper off-season storage. If you have accumulated a lot of decorations over the years, it can difficult to store things properly. The right kind of storage bins and a few helpful tips can make a huge difference and may even help you enjoy the holiday a little more.
Before you take down your decorations, it's always a good idea to take photos so you can remember the way you set up the decorations. Then take everything down in reverse order of how it was put up. Throw away anything you know you won't use next year. If a strand of light doesn't work, get it fixed this year or discard it. Group things that belong together in storage bins so you have an easier task of unpacking it next year.
Toy Bins Organizer
Depending upon where you plan to store your Christmas tree, hanging on to the original box your tree came in is a great idea. However, if you are storing it in a place that would make it susceptible to insects or water damage, the cardboard box won't cut it. It may be a wise idea to store it in a tree bag to prevent any damage.
You will also want to be sure to store your Christmas wreaths in a place that has plenty of space where they can maintain their shape throughout the year. It's generally not a good idea to simply throw a bag over them to prevent dust from accumulating.
Once you have a handful of storage bins full of all your Christmas decorations, remember to label them. To make unpacking even easier, number them in the order they should be unpacked. Also indicate the total number of boxes on each so you can make sure that you have them all. If you struggle to find all the boxes, consider using Christmas wrapping paper on them to make them stand out from your other items.
